A management team from Monsanto Co. will hold a panel discussion and lecture from noon-1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 21, in Room 213 Butler-Carlton Civil Engineering Hall. Led by Aldo Noseda, vice president of enterprise services, the presentation will benefit students from all majors, including biology, manufacturing, chemistry, engineering management, information science and technology, and business. Call for ERP Student Ambassadors!

The Center for ERP in collaboration with the COER will host a breakfast reception at MS&T’s Fall Career Fair.  Student ambassadors are needed to help, discuss their perspective and experience with the ERP program, explain the various courses and projects, and set up/close the reception.  The Breakfast Reception will be held in the Gale Bullman Multi-Purpose Bldg, Hall of Fame, 7:30-9:00am on Tuesday, September 27.   Students interested in participating should download the student ambassador application form for requirements and instructions.

 

New Class - Fall 2011!  ERP Systems in the Health Care Industry

Our new ERP 301 course is taught by Mr. Joe Abbott, Assistant Director of IT Services at Phelps County Regional Medical Center, and addresses the use of ERP systems in the health care industry with an emphasis on Business Process Integration. In addition to theories and concepts, students will gain hands-on experience with ERP systems used by the health care industry in class and via observation and interaction with healthcare professionals (doctors, nurses, IT professionals) at local healthcare facilities, and guest lectures. BIT/ERP Student Receives Distinguished Student Award for Outstanding Contribution

Congratulations to Joseph Pieczynski for receiving the first annual Distinguished Student Award for Outstanding Contribution for his service to the Center for Enterprise Resource Planning.  Joe graduated this month (May 2011) with a BS degree in Information Science and Technology with an emphasis in Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), and during his time at MS&T, Joe coordinated and participated in numerous functions and activities, contributing his time and abilities to help improve the Center for ERP website and program.  Click here to read more.

 

Congratulations to BIT Outstanding Teaching Award Recipients 

Dr. Henry Wiebe, vice provost of global learning at MS&T, presented outstanding teaching awards to MS&T faculty members engaged in distance education on Wednesday, May 4.  Among the faculty recognized, were three members of the Business and Information Technology department: Dr. Barry Flaschsbart, professor of business and information technology, and Dr. Vincent “Wen-Bin” Yu, associate professor of business and information technology, each received the Global Learning 2011 Outstanding Teaching Award of Excellence; and Dr. Craig Claybaugh, assistant professor of business and information technology, was awarded the Global Learning 2011 Outstanding Teaching Commendation Award.  Dr. Wiebe noted that, "This year's awardees received extremely high ratings from our students."

 

BIT Student Wins Award at Undergraduate Research Conference 

Congratulations to ERP Emphasis senior, Joseph Pieczynski, for his award at S&T’s 7th Annual Undergraduate Research Conference.  Joe’s research project: “Virtual Communities in an Enterprise Portal and the Effect on Corporate Governance for Generation Y” earned third place in the Social Sciences Oral Session category.  For more information about the Research Conference visit: http://ugs.mst.edu/ugrc.html

 

BIT Students Earn Two of Five SIM Scholarships 

Congratulations to S&T ERP Emphasis seniors Jonathan Freeman, and Zachary Humphrey, awarded Society for Information Management (SIM) scholarships. SIM is a not-for-profit organization of IT experts, including CIO's, CTO's, emerging IT leaders and key IT professionals committed to promoting the Information Technology industry through scholarships for students in the MIS field. Spring 2010 ERP SAP Live Simulation Competition

Put your investment skills to the test in the Annual Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) SAP Simulation Competition!
Seven teams from an ERP class will test their business and technology skills during a live ERP SAP simulation competition from 12 noon to 3 pm on Monday, April 26, in the lobby of the Havener Center.
The public may interact with the competition by investing simulated money in one of the seven simulated companies operated by students during the simulation.
Those who invest in the winning company - the one which generates the highest profit during the simulation - will have a chance to win a memory stick among other prizes.

Missouri S&T ERP program presented at St Louis ASUG Chapter meeting

On March 5, 2010, a group of faculty and students from the Missouri S&T program attended a meeting of the St. Louis chapter of ASUG. The attendance, organized by Dr. Bih-Ru Lea, Director of the Center for ERP, served as an opportunity to raise awareness to the S&T ERP program amid this vast group of professionals from companies around the St. Louis area that use SAP, while allowing the students to display their research and network with the participants.

The Center for Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) will hold two ERP Program information sessions, taking place on the following dates and locations:
- Thursday, January 21, 2010, 12 noon to 1:30 pm in Fulton 107A;
- Wednesday, January 27, 2010, 12 noon to 12:50 pm in Civil Engineering 216.

Information on various curriculum paths, ERP or SAP certification options, and career opportunities will be provided in addition to time for questions and answers and opportunities to interact with our ERP faculty.

Seven ERP Co-Op Students Presented at Monsanto Co.

Seven ERP co-op students, including Protyush Banerjee, Shanky Bhandari, Sreehari Chandran, Rachel Kluesner, Anurag Nikhare, Anoop Ramamurthi, and Pam Ryder, presented their co-op learning experience at Monsanto on Monday, December 7. There are currently 18 Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) students working as co-op students at various ERP and SAP companies to apply knowledge learned in the classroom at the corporate workplace. Monsanto Company is one of these employers, one which uses co-op students very effectively and requires each student to give a presentation on work done at the end of the co-op session.

Dr. Bih-Ru Lea and Dr. Barry Flachsbart from the Missouri S&T Business & Information Technology department, along with Ms. Marla Smith from the Career Opportunities Center (COC), attended the presentations as guests of Monsanto. The S&T representatives received many compliments on our students' achievements and the quality of our ERP program from managers and Monsanto co-workers who attended the program.

 

Dept. of Business & Information Technology students to present research projects

The Department of Business and Information Technology (BIT), Laboratory for Information Technology Evaluation (LITE), and the Center for Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) would like to invite you to a research showcase scheduled at Fulton 107A from 1 pm to 3 pm on Friday, December 4.

The research showcase, which core objective is to highlight the ongoing research projects by current thesis students, will feature presentations, posters, and live system demo.

An undergraduate team consists of Pam Ryder, Carl Schmitz, and Joe Pieczynski ranked as one of top eight teams from 41 teams in the qualification runs and is selected to compete in the 3rd International ERPSim Competition on June 20, 2009.

Virtual Team of Grad Students Win International Competition

A team of Missouri S&T graduate students - separated geographically but united via the Internet - matched wits and skills with seven larger teams from the United States and Canada to win the 2nd International HEC Montreal ERP Simulation Game on Thursday, June 12.

All eight teams had one hour to set up a virtual manufacturing company using SAP, the leading enterprise resource planning (ERP) software used by companies worldwide. Within this hour, the teams completed initial product design and development, costing, pricing, procurement and production plans, demand forecast, distribution channel selection, and marketing strategies.
